What’s an AMA?

AMA stands for “ask me anything.” It’s a chance to better get to know what it’s like to be a member of Reps council. It’s also a chance to better get to know the current council members.

Asking a question

To ask a question of council start a new topic in this sub-category of Discourse. If your question is related to a discussion that already started, you can use the “Reply as linked Topic” option which is to the right of the post.

Addressing council

Discourse let’s you @mention specific users which will notify them that you’re waiting for a response from them. If you want to address a question to Reps Council as a whole, type @repscouncil and click on the suggestion. This will replace “@RepsCouncil” with the list of the individual council members.

Individual council members

@emma_irwin, @rosana, @r_oVhPfcJCUUC5wbm6i4_C2Q, @lasr21, @ankitgadgil, @gautha91, @bobreyes, @jsan4christ, @ThePhoenixBird

The current council members the title “Reps Council” which will appear next to their name and/or username at the top of their posts. This will let you easily skim for responses from the current council.

Email notifications

If someone @mentions you, you should get an email (check your settings in your profile). If you’d like to get email notifications for other posts, you should change “Tracking” to “Watching” - this button is available at the bottom of each topic for per topic notifications, or at the top of the topic listing page on each category/sub-category.

Like button

The web interface has a heart button which allows you to “like” a post. It’s a good idea to use this button even if you want to leave a reply of support so that it’s easier to see at a glance which ideas are most popular. This can make it easier for council to prioritize which posts to answer if they get a lot of questions at once.
