[Z3C] New OTA is OUT NOW that fixes the udpate channel

Hi Everyone,

For everyone who got a Sony device at MozFest and updated since to a build that changed the update channel to ‘nightly’, there is a new OTA build (aka System Update) out to fix this. Please update your devices as soon as you can and you will be on the latest Foxfooding build. After installing, you can check that you’re on the right build by going to Settings > Device Information > More Information, and verifying that your Update Channel is set to ‘dogfood’.

Note this update might also be available to other foxfooders (i.e. who got their device not at MozFest but elsewhere) who got bumped to the wrong channel at some point in time.

If you have any questions, please post here.

Thanks,

Hello. I updated my z3c yesterday and they are showing my channel as nightly. I checked to update again and there wasn’t any update for me.

This does not reguard in any way the Flame device, does it?

  1. Go to : Settings > Device Information
  2. Look for ‘Check for Updates’ than tap ‘Check Now’
  3. Check your Notification screen.
  4. Download Update
  5. Rebooting
  6. Check : Settings > Device Information > More Information
  7. Look for ‘Update Channel’, make sure it’s set to ‘dogfood’.

I have exactly o effect after doing that :frowning:
No update notification.

not sure why, but that works for me…

Hello,

Right. As I understand the news, updating rolls back to the right
channel. And can the people who still use the “dogfood” channel can
update their OS or should they continue waiting a bit.

@bking maybe we should edit this topic title to add [Z3C] at the beginning to make it clear it’s just for this device

No, only Sony Z3C devices.

If you see an update, you can go ahead and take it.

Great! ^^ I’m downloading it. What does this update do, is it just a fix to get people back to dogfood or is there any bugfixes/improvements in FxOS?

Thanks!

Update: just got a notification to update build I’d: 20151130130150

Cool, I have updated the OTA. A thing I am not sure whether its a bug or not : after the update, I lost the categories for the icons. Are the categories removed or should they be present?

You mean the groups I guess. This was a feature of the old legacy homescreen. The update switched you to the new homescreen. As far as I know the new homescreen will also have groups, but it’s not implemented yet.

Yes, thanks for the information.

Florent

Hm, I still have no OTA available

Try rebooting your device.

I tried rebooting, then went to check for updates and clicked check now. Still nothing. I changed my update channel back to ‘dogfood’ when I got the bad update, and changed theUpdate URL to have “update/3” instead of what it was as instructed by somebody, is that correct? Maybe my updateURL is wrong? It is set to https://aus5.mozilla.org/update/3/%PRODUCT%/%VERSION%/%BUILD_ID%/%PRODUCT_DEVICE%/%LOCALE%/%CHANNEL%/%OS_VERSION%/%DISTRIBUTION%/%DISTRIBUTION_VERSION%/%IMEI%/update.xml

Thanks,

Yeah, that updateURL is incorrect.
Mine is :

https://aus5.mozilla.org/update/5/%PRODUCT%/%VERSION%/%BUILD_ID%/%PRODUCT_DEVICE%/%LOCALE%/%CHANNEL%/%OS_VERSION%/%DISTRIBUTION%/%DISTRIBUTION_VERSION%/%IMEI%/update.xml

Note the update /5/
