Show on schedule

About this session

We will work the session with groups of 6 participants, with three roles each:

1)government role
2)citizens role
3)civic tech non-profit organization

The groups will receive a fictional case where a governmental institution has a goal for a project and specific limitations. As it happens with open source tech users and contributors, where they apply their knowledge based on their resources and capacities to create technologies and solve issues, the civil tech organization must build a collaboration scheme and project according to the government and citizen needs, considering the available resources and capacities that both sides have.

A series of circumstances will be introduced to which participants will have to decide which step must be taken without affecting the relation with the government and the project.

The groups will present their collaboration scheme and which obstacles they had to face when developing the fictional project.

Goals of this session

Participants will learn to create collaboration strategies with government institutions, civil society organizations and citizens in general, building and adapting successful Open Data and Open Government projects according to the necessities and resources each party have, and the goals that need to be achieved.
