About this session

During Misinfocon earlier in the week, I’ll be holding a workshop to engage both technologists and policy folks to discuss avenues for creating. This session will be an independent followup from that workshop (I’ll catalyze and summarize the discussions from the workshop at the session). I’ll start by introducing some of the unique considerations for MR security and privacy and present a breakdown (input/processing/output) of stages where we have separate concerns. Depending on how many people attend, we’ll either discuss scenarios as a group (or break into groups), identifying mitigations and what we can do now to have a better immersive future. Mixed reality provides a different perspective on ethics and society and offers us a really good opportunity to do risk forecasting and shape the space into a more ethical and respectful one.

Goals of this session

Highlight and explain the privacy threats of MR experiences and how we can build an immersive web that respects and empowers people
