Wordpress Multisite

In case your inboxes weren’t spammed by it already, @logan, @tad, @jan, and @bkerensa have all offered to help setting up Wordpress Multisite. Logan filed bugs requesting approval from owners of sites on the community servers, and a tracking bug for it. A few have already approved.

Once we get WPMS running, we’ll have to get either database or XML dumps of the sites - XML would probably work better, and be easier. Not even sure if SQL dumps would work for this.

Going off that, Logan and I also created a page on the wiki that tracks all the domains we have configured on the shared servers. Some of the domains aren’t actually hosted there anymore, but we still have vHost configs for them.

Thanks for your work so far, guys! Looking forward to having WP running soon.

WP’s builtin migration tool works fine. You don’t need XML or database dumps.

In fact that’s exactly how I migrated my Mozilla blog when I left.

Ah, I didn’t know that WP had any sort of migration tools built in.

Yup. You can export from the admin interface, and it generates a WXR file that contains pretty much all content. Moving media over (and changing paths accordingly) may be an ordeal, though…
