Bummer!

How are you gonna make it up me? What’s coming next?
Screenshots quickly became a popular tool in Firefox. Look for new features like keyboard shortcuts and improved shot preview UI coming soon. We’re also interested in finding new ways to let Firefox users know the feature is there, and are planning experiments to highlight Screenshots as one of many tools that make Firefox unique.

  • Maybe interface the screenshot function with other services like Pocket, Evernote, Pinterest, Gmail, etc.

Or just K.I.S.S. like the blog post implied.

I hope they do give that option to save permanently somewhere. When you use multiple computers in different locations the download option is inconvenient unless you save it to a google drive or dropbox type of folder to access at another location. The link option may not work do changes in websites or videos.

I have only just returned to Firefox and tried out Screenshots and was looking forward to try out reviving my screenshots and wondered why I couldn’t. After doing a search found this thread and now I know why.

But, as this feature is is now discontinued, shouldn’t the FAQ for Screenshots now reflect this.
