WebExtension content script doesn't get loaded anymore after quitting Firefox twice

With the recent Firefox 54 update I noticed a very strange bug: after installing my Web extension content-script Trufflepiggy - Quick Search, https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/trufflepiggy/, it works fine.
However when quitting Firefox twice it doesn’t anymore. I have to reinstall or deactivate/activate the extension to get it working again.

I made a short screencast that illustrates the issue: https://youtu.be/c-kX5CW_OeQ

There are no extension errors but when investigating the web sources in dev tools you can clearly see that the content script files don’t get loaded anymore until you reactivate the addon.

The extension v1.2.1 worked fine for weeks so I guess it has something to do with recent updates on Firefox or the Web Extension code!? Please help me because it seems I can’t fix anything from my end…

Short update. Just downloaded the beta version (55.0b12) and there everything works fine again even after quitting Firefox twice.

Can’t confirm it. Created a new profile on Win10 WOW64, enabled sessionrestore, installed your extension and restarted halve a dozen times. Still works:

Hi Niklas,

thanks for taking your time to test it. Then it seems only an issue with

a) the 64bit version

or

b) the Mac Firefox 54.0.1 version installed on latest Sierra.

or

c) or my Macs.

In 8 days when 55 is rolling out this issue will be gone for good. Nevertheless the strangest bug I have ever experienced.
