Validation took too long to complete

I get this error message when trying to create a signed extension with jpm sign. Sometimes it works but most of the time is doesn’t with this error message. What is the problem?

Update 1: I found out how to download the signed extension from https://addons.mozilla.org/ after it timed out. But I prefer for jpm sign not to time out.

Update 2: I got this error again now but I couldn’t download the extension from https://addons.mozilla.org/, the new version is not there. I filed a new bug report.

Update 3: The version was there after ~15 minutes. But I can’t download it, there is an error.

It’s likely related to the complexity of your add-on. Removing unneeded code and files can help in reducing validation time.

This sounds like a known bug in jpm. Try upgrading to 1.0.4 and file an issue if you still run into it: https://github.com/mozilla-jetpack/jpm/issues

I’m already using jpm version 1.0.4. I think it’s a bug/timeout problem which I hope will be fixed in the next version.

OK, this is a bug we don’t know about then. We’d like to fix it! Can you run it like jpm --verbose sign... next time and file a bug with a text log that I can look at? If you were able to get the signed file from AMO but jpm sign timed out then it means the API responded in an unexpected way.

Hmm, I think this is a different error. I provided details in the bug report.

What is the problem with our credentials? I downloaded them from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/developers/addon/api/key/ . We already released new versions of our extensions for Chrome and Safari last week, only Firefox we can’t release because of this bug.
