Use addon in rules engines without have to add a thing

Is it possible to use an addon in the rules engine without adding a thing?

For example. I want to turn on a light when my phone is detected in the network. Currently I have to add my phone (using the Network presence detector addon) as a thing and only then can I use it in the rules engine. This clutters my things “dashboard” with a thing that is only there for the rules.

No, that’s the only way to do things right now. We have an open feature request to allow users to hide things from the dashboard, though.

You could also create a new add-on that creates a new dashboard with all the features you want.
