Hello Mozillians,
As the year comes to an end, we want to take a break from the challenges ahead to say thank you for all that you have contributed to the Mozilla mission. We would also like to celebrate the power of Mozillian communities all over the world in the fight to build an open and secure internet.
Mozilla’s mission is now more relevant than ever, and your amazing contribution and passion helped Mozilla to reach every corner of the world, and to bring together diverse groups of people to achieve amazing things.
By participating in Mozilla’s campaigns this year, you made a huge impact. Thanks to you thousands of people heard about the right to privacy, voice technology became more open, and the new Firefox browser launched faster, better, and safer than it would have been without your help.
Here are three stories that we wanted to share with you from this year:
- Firefox Fights for You: Early this year Mozillians came together to create their own versions of the Firefox Fights for You video sending a powerful message about people’s right to privacy. During this campaign 15 incredible videos were submitted, with a script translated by 45 people. We reached more than 200,000 through twitter and 5,000 people watched the videos. The video expressed the passion of everyone who participated and gave us hours of footage that can be used in the future.
- Common Voice: Is working to make voice technology open and accessible to all. The participants to the Common Voice Campaigns contributed to make voice technology open and accessible to everyone. You donated more than 400 hours of reviewed voice clips, which will contribute to creating an open data set. This will give direct value to deep speech or anyone who wants to train in voice technology.
- In June, more than 6000 fearless bughunters from all over the world participated in our Bughunting Campaign and contributed to the successful launch of the Firefox Preview Browser.
And this is just a small example of all that Mozillians have achieved!
In 2020 we would like to continue to improve the instruments and tools that support your contributions to the Mozillian mission, and to keep working with you to create campaigns and activities based on your interests and passions.
