Signed extension could not be verified for use in Firefox

I have a signed Firefox extension, when it is first installed it is verified and works. At some time later it becomes flagged as " could not be verified for use in in Firefox and has been disabled".

The “more information” link goes to the generic support page. How do I determine why this extension could not be verified? I know the extension is signed because I signed it. The extension is under development.

Any changes in the extension package or install directory would cause this error you’re seeing. Can you confirm that your add-on doesn’t change anything in those places? Or could it be some other software doing these changes?

Thank you! We are prototyping using Crossrider. Crossriders’s popup which lives under /skin/popup.html is updated at runtime, which breaks the signing.
