A few people (@lapineige, @TitanNano, @lissyx) started to discus the idea of re building B2G based on Android.
Therefore we would use a stripped down android (CM, AOSP) which then starts with a single gecko view. This way we wouldn’t need to take care of all the graphics and media stuff. We also would be able to create web services in order to bridge features like the camera into Gecko.
The questions we need to answer now are, do we want this? Does it make sense to build B2G based on Android? What would be the goal of such an OS?
At the moment we do not have any alternative plans. Feel free to and anything you think is important for this topic.
Edit:
Firefox for Android is maintained by Mozilla.
Android is maintained by Google, Cyanogen Mod, AOSP and tons of manufacturers.
We only need to glue it together.

yes we would remove every part of the original android UI.
