ParSys Sprint Communication Update

Dear Open Innovation Team,
Dear Stakeholders,

we are iterating the way we communicate ParSys sprint forecasts and evaluate outcomes. There is a fine line between “too high level and wrong” and “too detailed to read”. It is most important to be truthful and informative in our statements. If you see us divert from these objectives, please contact us immediately.

As a result, you will see the formerly known “sprint started” messages resurface as:

https://discourse.mozilla-community.org/t/parsys-sprint-14-impact-evaluation/12909
https://discourse.mozilla-community.org/t/parsys-sprint-15-forecast-and-impact-evaluation/12910
https://discourse.mozilla-community.org/t/parsys-sprint-16/12899

Please let us know what you think in the comments.

Best regards,
Henrik

Hi Henrik

Let me share my observation here:

  • Sprint 14 - Impact Evaluation
  • Sprint 15 - Forecast and Impact Evaluation
  • Sprint 16 - nothing more

What is the pattern here? From what I understand from these words, I guess the idea is:

  • Have a Sprint X - Forecast for any sprint which includes what is gonna be worked on
  • Have a Sprint X - Impact Evaluation as a retrospective on what has been done (e.g. Release Notes)

Is this correct? If so, why doesn’t the wording of Sprint 16 say Forecast? :stuck_out_tongue:

Nevermind the last question, just clicked on the topic for Sprint 16 and that indeed has “Forecast” in the title. Seems like Discourse doesn’t show an updated title when being linked to?

It requires a re-baking of the post, which I just triggered

Correct. Does that pattern make more sense now that the titles have been updated?

Ideally it is as you said:

  • After the sprint planning meeting, we publish a Forecast. I am still switching between “Goal” and “Forecast” … sorry about that. Please allow me some time to learn and adapt.
  • At the end of the sprint we publish review results in an Impact Evaluation.
  • During the sprint we also publish release notes for Discourse, Reps, Mozillians and Moderator. These will be linked in the Impact Evaluation post.

Does this leave any questions open? If yes, please let me know.

Best regards,
Henrik
