We were seeing some problems yesterday with pageshot.net, and those problems have compounded today. We’re trying to understand what went wrong and bring the servers back up.
The service is back up. We got an unexpected burst of activity and exhausted our database space.
In the process of trying to clean up some of the problems we detected in the database when the server went down, we triggered more problems, which is causing a site outage.
We migrated the data to a new database instance and threw away the junk that was causing problems. We think we’ve fixed the problems that have been occurring this week, though some details depend on browser configurations that we suspect but haven’t reproduced.
