About this session
I will present a 10 minute overview of some common but easy to ignore threats to the stability of open projects. We will then have 10 minutes to brainstorm independently about the unique situations of the projects that participants are involved in. 10 minutes of discussion will follow. The next 20 minutes will be a prioritization session, where participants can work independently or in groups to identify the biggest risks and begin to develop systems to address them. In the final 10 minutes, participants will share back on their experience of the session and what they’ll take away.
Goals of this session
To help people identify the threats to the stability of their project, which may include legalities of organizational structure, lack of governance, missing privacy safeguards, and the “bus factor” (depending too heavily on one individual). Another goal is to learn from participants about their experiences with threats that may be context or region-specific.
