This session is facilitated by Claudina Romero-Mayorga, Matthew Knight, Brian Fuchs
About this session
Meet Amara Thornton, Amy Smith, Claudina Romero-Mayorga & Jayne Holly who will share the story behind the Open Ure Museum! shown at the Arts & Culture Salon (801).
Visitors will:
- question and discover the Ure museum’s history, stimulated by a new project with Museum in a Box – a box dedicated to the life and career of Annie Ure, an archaeologist and the Ure Museum’s first curator.
- hear new narratives about the Museum, using new films created from digitisation of the Ure’s audio and image archive. Feedback from visitors will help us shape and share our collections and archives for the future.
- handle 3D prints of Cypriot objects from the Museum’s collection and discuss how 3D prints can help unlock new narratives about Cypriot archaeology.

Goals of this session
To explore how, through digital, museums can open their collections – both objects and archives – to the public, and encourage visitors to think about, question and enhance museum and collection narratives.
