I created a firefox extension with a rather long description so that users know how to use it.
The description appears in AMO so I feel there’s no need to repeat it in the add-ons preferences in firefox.
You can have a short description in manifest.json and then make a longer one on AMO by editing the description.

I didn’t know descriptions in the manifest had priority over those in AMO.

AMO first gets it from the manifest… but you can change it.
