Is it possible for us to get articles continuously for a local newsletter?

Let’s say, hypothetically, (I use this term because I’m not so sure that we’d get a chance from our side to do this), we’ve been given a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly (which one would be good?) column in any national level english newspaper - I’d like to ask to the community that what types of articles would be good to post in national print media.

Also, From previous experience - we seem to lose the flow after certain amount of articles - What could be done to come out of that situation? Can the global community help us maintain the continuity?

Finally, Is it a good idea to have a column on a newspaper? Why? Why not?

(Just trying to read minds of fellow Reps and Volunteers - I’d be delighted to hear replies)

Thanks

Well I think whether or not it’s a good idea depends on the audience that
paper reaches, and if we have a message that they’d want to hear and could
motivate them to take action.

In a National level newspaper, I think someone could write opinion pieces
that are similar to the message cbeard wrote to microsoft. It could be
focused on teaching the reader what they need to know to make good
decisions online, and what to think of news items and how they will be
affected. I think having something like this would be a very good idea for
people who read the news.

I am not sure it makes sense for Mozilla itself to be responsible for the
column, but I think a rep could do a good job at writing such a column. I
think the column would need to be written by the same person each time
(name recognition) but certainly they could interview other Reps or get
ideas from other Reps, eg “I was just talking to my friend about this issue
in Italy…”

There’s way too much sensationalism in tech reporting, it would be really
great to see a column that focuses on the real benefit to the reader.
