Are there instructions on what to classify as “Yes” and what as “Nope” when validating recordings?
I stumbled upon various cases for which it was not clear to me if they constituted a correct recording.
Some examples:
- Someone repeating the same (correctly spoken) sentence several times.
- A non-native speaker being unable to read a word (e.g. “I’ve” being read as if it was spelled L-V-E)
- Someone pointing out a spelling error in the recording.
For all of the above cases I have opted to press “Nope”. I could easily see someone choose the other option after some reasoning. Also, there might be other ambiguous cases.
I believe, it would be useful to have clearer guidelines to let volunteers know (a) what to do and what not to do when recording samples and (b) what constitutes a proper recording.
Cheers
