This session is facilitated by Daniel Gost, Sandra Gonzalez, Mina Bach, Rocio Leon
About this session
We will start the session by introducing the concept of AI, the role that it currently plays and its future. We’ll spark the imagination, enabling children to create solutions that have a positive impact in the world. After, we will encourage the children to think of a real-world problem and how they can use this technology to solve it.
Then, children will be provided with materials, guiding them through four well-described steps:
- Describe the problem you are trying to solve
- Get to know your user and who will benefit from this
- Ideate solutions and pick the one that you’ll want to focus on
- Sketch screens of the app and create a digital prototype using their parent’s mobile phone
Children will work supported by mentors through the process, ensuring they produce designs that are solving a real life problem.
Goals of this session
To teach children that in order to make a real impact in the world, AI experiences need to start with a design process where empathy, understanding of real-world problems and sketching out multiple solutions is key.
This session is a collaboration between Design Club (http://designclub.org.uk) and UX for Change (https://www.ux4change.org/).
