One thing I’m concerned about, and hopefully you can help me here, is how to approach a group (for example a JavaScript or Ruby focused group and do a presentation on Firefox. I’m not sure how resistant groups targeting one topic would be to hosting a presentation on a different topic. Have you dealt with that in the past? How did you handle it? In my last presentation I did a graceful transition to each of the other two topics (including slides) and just briefly touched on them before getting back to the main topic.
How to approach a dev group? In my experience very simple, looking for meetups and join them and after a little propose talk.
In that way you are like the others and join the community graceful and as member you can ask to do a talk without problems
