I know the AMO team has a lot to do, and as such the approval process is quite long.
I released my extension 4 days ago to Chrome and other browsers, and users are happy. But Firefox users are still confused and constantly asking why they can’t see the new version. They are trying to download and install an old (broken) version. This becomes a support nightmare for me!
Further, I am almost ready to release a patch to the original version to fix some bugs and address some issues. I can update Chrome immediately, but then FF users will be a version behind, causing even more confusion. When they finally get their version approved, it will be the one with bugs I’ve already fixed. Oy.
How do other extension authors manage this difference in browser release times?
Do you wait until the FF version is approved before releasing any version?
Do you just manage the confusion during the approval lag?
Do you release a local XPI until the official version is approved?
Any thoughts on the best way to deal with this?
