As an alternative to actual phone, a friend want to use PiPhone.
I’m thinking about use PiPhone with fullscreen Firefox.

At the moment I don’t think it matters much what the underlying operating system is (although I lean towards AOSP). What matters more is getting the higher level things working. It’s about building applications that work with Web standards and need only very little custom APIs. Those application could then (ideally) run on whatever the underlying operating system is.
