It reminds me of the IoT garage door opener at CES - why on earth would I use an app on my phone (which is about 6 steps) when I can just use the old school opener with a button?
When designing IoT stuff, we need to keep in mind that not every solution requires people to interact with UI and our goal should be making things easier, not harder and more complicated.
