Firefox in Flatpak/Flathub

Hi all.

In the last few months I have been working hard on making my Linux laptop as stable and secure as possible, and I came to Flatpak. The command line is not that intuitive, but the integration into GNOME Software is really smooth and I just love it. But I miss official Firefox builds there. What is needed to be done to get Firefox to this list? The community builds have some small issues, but what about starting with pre-release versions there, until all limitations are fixed?

I have found one year old bug 1278719. @mkaply @wsmwk I see you doing some triage in the history. What is the bug currently waiting for? I see Flatpak as a potential how can Mozilla package and distribute Firefox easily for distros.

I’ve replied in the bug. Basically we would need a community member to take some ownership and help drive things. We don’t have the Flatpak expertise.

An unofficial flatpak is, BTW, provided here:

iirc the only thing that the linux builds from ftp.mozilla.org miss to ‘integrate’ is coping the icons to your .icons/hicolor/ directory for the shortcut and the nodisplay in the .desktop
