I am currently running Fx Dev Edition 42.0a2 (2015-08-16). It updated today. In fact, it updates every day like I am on the nightly channel. I don’t want to develop my extensions with the “bleeding edge” Fx version - it’s too unstable. How can I change to the ‘beta’ channel and get updates only every six weeks or so?
I’ve already changed the pref app.update.channel from ‘aurora’ to ‘beta’ but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. In fact, it changes back to ‘aurora’ after every update.

So I’m thinking beta and dev should have similar. Does anyone know it?

Well, like it or not, it looks like us developers are going to be stuck on the aurora channel as of v42.0.

The Developer Edition and Nightly versions of Firefox will have a setting to disable signature enforcement. There will also be special unbranded versions of Release and Beta that will have this setting, so that add-on developers can work on their add-ons without having to sign every build.
These unbranded builds do not exist yet, but the will be very soon.
Is there a bug one can follow?
