About this session

The session will be a working group meet up. I will present on a project using feminist methodology to understand the gendered digital divide in selected in African countries. There-after the session will become an exercise where participants are given different scenarios and asked to point out the gendered and sexuality issues and come up with ways to address the problem to ensure equitable access to the internet. The emerging thoughts will be captured as the session goes along and the facilitator will rap up the session by highlighting the solutions that emerge through a feminist perspective and how they can be put in place in an African context.

Goals of this session

The goal is to locate feminist approaches globally and specific to Africa to understand how technology contributes to better understanding the digital divide in Africa. Specifically looking at how a feminist approach may begin to unpack issues around gender, sex and sexuality in relation to technology.
