This session is facilitated by Maya Wagoner
About this session
I will present the philosophy and process of the Nudge BPL project to find (often but not necessarily technological) interventions as alternatives to library fines, and we will imagine and remember systems and technologies that address thorny problems now addressed with fines or incarceration. We will discuss the importance of equity, co-design, accessibility, power, and privacy. Speculative design is welcome.
Goals of this session
To engage people who work with/against systems that are punitive to imagine ways of achieving their goals by helping, not harming, their intended users.
