I had to do a System Restore. Now my add-ons have disappeared and I am unable to add them back in. I keep getting a message to check my internet. My internet is fine. Message states: “download failed. Please check your connection.” Thanks for any help.
Hi skiellach, what did you roll back to? Exact Firefox version can be found listed on the Troubleshooting Information page. Either:
- “3-bar” menu button > Help > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
You might need to re-update: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/update-firefox-latest-version
I undid my System Restore and now have the latest 68.0.2 (64bit). Still no luck!!
Unfortunately system restore is primarily targeted toward fixing Windows issues, and can wreak havoc on applications and their data.
When you “rolled forward” to the latest restore point, you didn’t get your previous data back? Or you got your extensions back but they don’t work?
First, try doing a normal shut down and restart of Windows to release file locks and complete any pending updates.
If problems continue after restarting, try reinstalling Firefox using the full installer. It should detect your existing files and do an “update-style” reinstall. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
Also make sure your system date is correct (wrong date will make many certificate-protected things on web invalid).
So…because I was so frustrated - also, could not download anything - I saved documents and personal material, and reinstalled Windows and downloaded all my apps. Took a while, but now everything is working well. Folks who are more well-versed in repairing less drastically, are smarter than I. For me, a re-install seems more understandable - lol. Thanks to all for your suggestions. I’ll likely be back.
