Decision Making Experiment

We are taking part in a project initiated by the Office of the Chair (Mitchell’s team) to experiment with documenting decisions. The platform chosen to put the decisions is Bugzilla. However, if you have comments on anything (the decision itself, the process, the project, …) please comment here and not in the individual bugs.

Here is the first decision documented, on how we came about to decide what Reps resources to use for Maker Party this year:

@bking I have a suggestion for the process part of it may be circulating a form to get community feedbacks can help the decision-making process more efficient as the team will get more insights.

I noticed a couple of things:

Much of the wording of the bug is as if that decision was about to happen, but the bugs are about decisions that happened.

Stakeholders only makes sense before the decision. After the decision, you want to be explicit who was actually consulted, or who participated.

Timeframe is also forward-looking. In retrospect, it’d be timeline, I guess.

Bug 1318073 seems to have a bit of a challenge on what the decision actually is? Might be good to split it up in to “should we have Regional Coaches”, and “select regional coaches”?

In the l10n team, we’re also trying this. One bug that documented a decision is bug 1289385.

I agree. We wanted to document the selection only. It was a given that we will try that and this is not part of the documented decision. However I see why you are giving this feedback, the time line goes too far back. (Yes, of course we could also document our decision on the initial decision to try the Regional Coaches)
