I’ve read the Contribute to Common Voice in Activate Mozilla, this is my feedback.
The workflow in submitting voices should be more parallel to the goals been set. if the strategy is clear for users, they can also activate. This also matters because when I get to the stage where I’ll be hosting an event, I want the usage to be smooth without any confusion by participants, as I explain that we need various voices to have a more effective database, so 225 voice per person should do it, then the workflow of the application should facilitate this behavior for the app user.
In accordance, here are what I think should be thought of:
-
in the recording page, the record counter should show up, instead of jumping back and forth to the stats page. Here is a screenshot of how it should look like
-
There should be another label that shows up -once a user has recorded at least one clip- in place of “Unable to speak right now?” label, a “Submit clips” label.
-
“Finish recording first? Leaving now means you’ll lose your progress” label in the popup modal for “Unable to speak right now?” should be removed, it is not accurate, it will create confusion.
-
Another thing to think about is that it should be 225 of validated clips per person, the validated clips recorded by a person should be shown more clearly in the stats page.
-
The Goals page is not what it should be, the current page will encourage recording more clips by a person, that works against what we actually want. in the Goals page, “the Contribute to Common Voice in Activate Mozilla” should be there instead so people understand the strategy and activate others.
