Closing down Firefox

Where do I get help with closing down (recently installed) Firefox in Widows 8.1? I have tried the obvious things including ‘end this task’ in Task Manager. Firefox refuses to close and it prevents some other programs from running as they give the error message"close Firefox first". I have to lierally destroy bits of Firefox wherever I can find them and then shutdown / relaunch the computer.

I tried to ‘ask a question’ in the Mozilla help web page but was unable to get the button to respond (I have had that problem before).

I have reinstalled Firefox but I do not intend to use it until I know what to do if this issue is not resolved.

You should try the Support Forum.

Were you able to get help?

I haven’t had an issue with killing Firefox in the task manager, which isn’t to say that I doubt you, just saying it sounds like something is definitely off.

When it refuses to close, does it leave the window visible? Or does it just stay around in the task manager?

Hi

Thanks for your response.

Just letting you know that immediately after posting my question I
closed Firefox successfully and the problem seems now to have gone
away! For your information, with regard to Task Manager, while I was
having the problem even when I had deleted the references to Firefox in
TM it still persisted (like a ghost in the machine?). Of course there
may have been items in processes which due to my limited knowledge I did
not recognise.

Anyway, all seems well now.

Chris

Glad to hear it! But I’m curious now, if it happens again, come back!
