Battery usage debugging utils

I’m new here so not sure if this is the correct place to even discuss this.

However I am after a way to debug FireFox OS battery usage. I have bought a brand new Sony Z3 and knowing FxOS is supposed to be good for battery it is quite interesting to see there is only around 20% battery left halfway through the day.

So I know @nukeador raised this issue about telegram (Which I am using) and it didn’t seem to be resolved properly but closed:

Are there battery utils or debugging tools people are using?

The issue of Telegram about battery drain was closed because it now supports push notifications.

I’m using Z3C and I’m actually impressed by power consumption. From charging each day (on my android phone) I now charge every 3 days (and Telegram is among the apps I use daily).

Well I have using it a fair bit so it could be that. Are you using a Mozilla internal build?

I was interested in how the Telegram battery usage was established though.

I agree that it would be useful that the battery settings panel would display way more info about the usage, similar to the detailed information we have on data usage (total, evolution, per app…)

Yeah I suspect extending the battery API’s would be useful here… that is far beyond my current knowledge right now. Hence why I was enquiring how others were currently debugging this :smiley:
