B2G OS Transition volunteer contribution status - week 22

Hi!

Here is a status on the B2G OS Transition project contribution.

We’re looking for an original idea to mark to occasion of the end of the transition period, suggestions are welcome.

Next week will take place the last B2G OS Transition monthly meeting on Thursday the 9th, at 17:30 UTC. You will soon find an agenda here:

Global overview
There is a good momentum on contribution, a good involvement on the non-technical working groups, the Telegram group counts 165 members (+15 over the last week), the IRC channel 262.

Code (3 active volunteers, 16 candidates for mentoring)

  • Contribution on the clock and dialer apps
  • Interest on the email app
  • We still need more people involved

Building and Porting (~6 volunteers)

  • B2G installer validation to addons.mozilla.org blocked by 2 bugs
  • Work ongoing on Fairphone2

Infrastructure (2 volunteers)

  • Urgency to find contributors on this area
  • Github repo setup and used for non-technical tasks

Governance (9 members, up to 15 volunteers)

  • Provisional Council created
  • 6 months to work on the governance structure, before presenting his work, and re-evaluating the organization.

Documentation (6 volunteers)

  • Ongoing work to lower the entry barrier for first time contribution
  • FAQ ready

Communication (3 to 6 volunteers + ~12 translators)

  • Call for contribution more and more shared
  • Flyers printed for FLOSS events
  • In contact with Mozilla locales communities

From my point of view, it’s a shame to use google services to develop B2G …

I do agree. Please help us to find a functional alternative and I’ll be happy to use it!

It depend what do you need , if you need spreadsheet , there is https://ethercalc.org/
If you want kanban tools, there is https://kanboard.net/ and https://wekan.io/ which are open source .

This is for calendar feature, not tasks management or spreadsheet.

Like @Valentin, I agree, we just need a functional alternative in the free software world (I don’t know any, so please submit proposals :wink: )

I like this idea. Here you can use Zoho Creator or Odoo.
