I would like to distribute my addon by an application installer. I didn’t find much of information but I was able to figure out two ways, how to install an addon:
1.) Copy it into the location of extension directory of profile
2.) Registry key
In both ways the application is installed but disabled. The most users are not skilled enough to enable the extension, in the preferences. Is disabled because I didn’t go for the unlisted -> application is bundled with an application installer option, or is it generally disabled and the user has to activate it himself.
If I search I’ll surely figure out a way to enable the extension, but for sure it’ll will not be according to Firefox / Google Terms; the exe signature will be voided and it’ll be an unwanted software.
So what’s the correct / legal way of installing an extension through a bundled application installer without having to enable it in the extensions manager?
