Add-on install failed: socket hangup

I’m playing around with the WebThings gateway but can’t get it to install any add-ons.

I have it installed on a raspberry pi (model 3, I think) and connected to a hardwire.

Any add-on I try to install results in a “Failed” message.

Here’s what’s shown in the log:

FetchError: request to https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/mozilla-gateway-addons/activitypub-adapter-0.0.14.tgz failed, reason: socket hang up

Anything I can do to help figure this out?

It looks like your gateway cannot reach the internet. Either that, or AWS went down (unlikely).

Are you able to do the following from your RPi?

curl https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/mozilla-gateway-addons/activitypub-adapter-0.0.14.tgz
