V57 UI STINKS! Theme with previos UI?

I really dislike the UI of V57 to the point of wanting to use Chrome. Is there a theme that restores the UI used in FF since who knows when? Or has Mozilla decided to out do microsoft in creating suka layouts.

First, please don’t use terms like “stinks” and other aggressive phrasing because they will offend those who actually like it, and as tastes differ, there are always people who like or dislike a UI/theme style. And when you offend people, you will not get helpful replies from them.

Second, the theming possibilities of Firefox Quantum are unfortunately very limited and there are no ways right now to do theming or customization that mirrors the look of older Firefox versions or do other larger changes to the look and feel. Maybe there will be extensions to APIs in the future that allow some of that, but at this time nothing in that direction is available.

Sorry, I calls them as I sees them. The new interface stinks.

I agree the theme “Default 57.0” is also not my favorite. I want the old theme “Default 56.0.2” I have searched everywhere, but I cant find the old default theme.

*Does anyone know where to download the old default theme “Default 56.0.2”?
*Does anyone know how to copy the old default theme? The file should be stored somewhere on my, not updated PC.

I use the “light blue FF4 default” theme now, but it is not similar.

It’s impossible to apply a full theme to the release version of Firefox 57+. This is one of the types of extensions which were disallowed. You can apply some CSS changes using the chrome/userChrome.css file in each profile. However, doing a full theme there would be quite complex.

The CSS files which describe the look of the Firefox UI are contained in the omni.ja files within the Firefox install directory. Each of the omni.ja files are zip-archives (the extension has been changed to .ja) containing 1,500 to 2,700 files, or so. You would need to make a detailed analysis of what changed from FF56 to FF57 and port the portions you wanted to keep while accounting for all changes in the Firefox UI’s DOM. This is…complex. Keeping up with such changes was one of the things that made keeping a full-theme updated difficult.

It is possible to unpack the omni.ja archives, make changes, repack them and place them back in the Firefox install directory. You’d have to do this every time that Firefox updates. Depending on the changes you’re making, this can be quite a bit of work.

I have also found this https://github.com/Aris-t2/CustomCSSforFx I have found it here: https://support.mozilla.org/nl/questions/1185440, It is also cumbersome. If someone has made a leightweight theme, let me know.
