Thread: Add-ons not working due to certificate expiration

Thanks, @beagel. I’ll look for that quote add-on. Didn’t realize that’s a possibility. I hope you were able to find some of your lost data, too! It looks like things are back to normal again. I hope the Mozilla folks have learned something from this minor disaster. :slightly_smiling_face:

But I do want to thank the Mozilla dev folks for jumping on this problem and getting it fixed. And also, for keeping us all informed.

Maybe for you. I’m using a desktop and my browser is still broken. All add-on’s are still disabled. If i try to reinstall them, or update them, it says they are corrupted and can’t be installed.

19.00 cet. All my add-ons on ff Android work now. They just have a small disclaimer underneath saying this add-on can not be verified by Firefox, but they work. Never installed any hot or cold fix and haven’t changed anything in settings. So…all seems to be good now. Meanwhile my desktop hasn’t been affected at all.

This might be one of the benefits of living in a third world country like Romania. Everything comes here with great delay… except gas prices going up…

Oh man, @meteordealer_2000, that sucks. That’s the exact same situation I was dealing with last night as I was working on a project. Scared the crap out of me, because I thought maybe I’d picked up some kind of nasty malware or something. I hope your situation gets resolved soon! (Wish I had some suggestion, but my knowledge of this stuff is just about nil.)

Whoever came up with this idea to disable the addons I WANT TO HAVE in firefox and I don’t give an f if they are “verified for use” (what the heck is that now?)… please kick his butt in my name. If this will remain, I will use Chrome in future. As simple as this…

I’m on an old computer and can’t update to the newest version of FF. Looks like i may have to delete FF and find a new browsing option if they aren’t offering support for older versions. Guess i will wait and see what happens.

I’m on Android n the same happened to me none of the add-on is working also I can’t install new ones it says download failed

Really not impressed. This hot fix still isn’t showing in about:studies and still can’t restore add ons. If FF does not get this fixed asap, I will definitely be moving to a different browser.

the last 15 years as a computer engineer i installed ff in at list 300 pcs per year… what should i say to my customers that their great add ons as ad blockers dont work any more???

please, fix this problem.

the alternative is poor

Win10 64bit, FF 66.0.3 - automatic updates enabled:
study-fix applied and working (hotfix-reset-xpi-verification-timestamp-1548973)

Now the blasted ads that are showing up are causing problems with my browser, slowing it down and freezing. GET THIS FIXED!!!

Mine’s back to normal now. Thanks Caitlin and the rest of the addon team for getting right on this.

For all you with your harsh judgment for Mozilla for this, I do hope life doesn’t show you the same for your own faux pas.

Dont know why fx decided this was a good idea, fine enough if you want to warn users about non whitelisted extensions but completely removing them is just a pain. Just gonna move to Chrome.

I really don’t wanna switch to Chrome and have Google spying on me all the time.

A fix is already released, but it understandably takes some time to apply it to millions of installations.
Meanwhile you could try the built in content blocker. It block most garbage for me and performs actually better then any Add-On I’ve used so far.

Android FF still suffers. There is no easy way one can apply a fix on Android comparing to a desktop. Mozilla themselves probably knows better than us how badly they screwed up this time and how many percentage of their user searched for Chrome, Edge in their address bar. This is a nightmare for both the company and the users.

htos1av, keep your filthy language and racist remarks to yourself. They have no place here. You have been reported.

SJW, thanks for the suggestion. I have content blocking set up but it does not appear to be able to stop actual company ads from showing up on my browser.

Is there any way to restore settings from already deleted add-ons?
I’ve already deleted some of my add-ons because I thought they were compromised before I came across this announcement.

Thank you.
