About this session
Robots, picture books, and young readers… oh my! In this session, learn everything you need to bring storytime to life with computer science and robotics. Participate in a hands-on computer science infused storytime, learn behind-the-scenes tips to bridge between the lab and the library, and then brainstorm and workshop your own ideas to provide engaging, high quality programming to the developing readers and engineers in your life.
Goals of this session
The goal of this session is to empower educators, librarians, mentors, and parents to combine the power of early literacy with the critical skills of web literacy, digital citizenship, and computational thinking. When web literacy and stories are used together, the result is student-centered programming that introduces computer science skills while deepening love of literature. Giving educators the tools that they need to bring computer science and web literacy skills into classrooms, libraries, and community organizations through literature provides greater opportunity, equity, and access for all young people.
