About this session
-
BRAINSTORMING - Since the notion of ADM might be new to some participants, we will start with brainstorming what ADM is.
-
ROLE PLAYING GAME - Once we have a definition, participants will be divided into small groups in order to work on scenario cards, presenting various situations on ADM which might affect them. This part will be interactive, in the form of role playing game, so we can discuss each scenario from various perspectives.
-
2-4-8 DISCUSSION - Based on the experiences from role playing game, we will invite participants to give feedback on policy recommendations we’ve created - do they see other challenges we shall address? Do they think our postulates are strong enough?
Goals of this session
The quiet revolution of AI looks nothing like the way movies predicted; AI seeps into our lives not by overtaking our lives as sentient robots, but instead, steadily creeping into areas of decision-making that were previously exclusive to humans. Because it is so hard to spot, you might not have even noticed how much of your life is influenced by algorithms.
We have been working recently on mapping of various scenarios of Algorithmic Decision Making (ADM), researching its impact and drafting policy recommendations in this area. Our goals:
- The session will explore several cases of ADM - we will invite participants to share their thoughts and feedback on certain scenarios - through this exercise the awareness of ADM among participants will be risen.
- We will also discuss the policy recommendation we came up with - this part will help us to develop the recommendations.
